Entry #D-2: "Do"
[audio recording]
I think I'm getting better.
My mind is no longer stranded within the limitations of prime numbers. This is very, very encouraging.
It's time to get priorities straight.
1. Alessa: Has a good body. That's all I know, at present... along with the fact that she has a scar on her thigh, and some psychic powers. She's straight-laced and tight-lipped, and even when I was freaking out on body-switch day, there wasn't much I could gather. That says a lot, if it's difficult to understand someone even when you've spent a day as them.
2. Alice Elliot: I have not met this woman. Only heard of her. She's a healer.
3. Blythe:
4. Dorian: We... understand each other. I had the opportunity to meet all of his different souls, and he's truly an intriguing individual. Also possibly the purest member of Asgard despite his age. I believe that protecting him should be a high priority of ours, since even with Kain's training, something could go wrong. Everyone in Asgard adores him, so it would be a painful blow if he died or was injured beyond repair.
5. Glitch: I have not met this individual, but from hearsay I gather that he's the type that would annoy me substantially. He's supposed to not have a brain... how on earth does that work? Is someone controlling him, like a necromancer? The brain is responsible for keeping track of all the body's faculties, so how is he even digesting food and achieving oxygen transport? If I think about this too much, MY brain will start to hurt...
6. Kain: We certainly love to hate each other. Personally, I think he's got something for Blythe... but the important thing is, she doesn't have a thing for him. Now that I'M officially courting her, I don't have much reason to despise him... so it will just be a matter of finding what I can learn from him. He's quite the accomplished man of combat, from what I've observed, so that should prove informative. I should also probably mention that nothing is quite as much fun as annoying this guy. Except, perhaps, kissing Blythe.
7. Henry: Tch. I wish I could say that I respect him... but lately, I've been disappointed in his lack of mettle. He tends to like the status quo, I think... he's afraid of change. He and Eileen took forever to get together, for instance... and he's highly opposed to using any kind of offensive strategies, even though we need to, soon, if Niflheim is going to get as good as they give. Someone so indecisive can be manipulated easily, usually... but I digress. I should probably think more carefully before I try to take advantage of someone on my team. Furthermore, someone I'm personally indebted to.
8. Frank: A man whose strength of character puts the rest of us to shame... or at least justified embarrassment of some sort. He remains righteous, level-headed, and soft-spoken, and though I never had many, I've begun to consider him a role model. Is "father figure" the right phrase? Yes, that... seems appropriate. Especially after what happened on body-switch day. He dropped everything to help me, and this leads me to the conclusion that, yes, altruism does exist. Frank is something of a hero, I think.
9. Eileen: I don't know her, but Frank and Henry do. She seems nice... Henry's girlfriend.
10. Lina: Like me, she eats. A lot. She also can make things explode, from what I hear. Interaction has been minimal, but that may change soon. Who knows?
11. Kamina: Who is this again?
12. Mitch: A little confrontational, but he makes sense. Usually. Mmm... he frustrates me, somewhat, but not as much as...
13. WILL: I really hate this prick. The man cannot argue worth a damn, yet accuses me of being incompetent. That's unforgivable. As if that's not enough, he's also a paranoid jerk who is trying to come between myself and my closest friends. Some people just can't learn, and he's one of them. He's the same alcoholic, ragingly psychotic liability he was back in our other life. Just the fact that I had any sort of connection with him makes me cringe, and the fact that he would have hated me no matter what I did. Honestly, I think the only way he would have been happy is if I gave my life for the case, as well. But Mitch WANTED the case. Crawford gave it to him, and asked me to "help." That doesn't seem like enough responsibility to die for. And Will isn't, either!
14. Balam: I don't know him, either. I think he has control over flame. Or something...
15. Dr. Cox: Tch. Thinks I need to be on medication. He's a real bundle of fun... the type of person who is ignorant on purpose pushes my buttons a SPECIAL kind of way. This guy is full of it.
16. Shinji-kun: Double-tch. Talks like he has the inside scoop on the entire world, and remains mostly within his own thoughts. Hesitant and even defensive when it comes to considering another's point of view... potentially closed-minded. Enforces the Japanese stereotype of being rigid in his ways. Doesn't read Dostoevsky. Tends to project his disputes and problems onto others... certainly not someone who's going to be a driving force in Niflheim.
17. Dante: I misjudged her initially. She helped me, and didn't kill me even though she probably could have, easily. I think she has a special sort of agreement or bond with Light... she helps him when he's in need. Probably the closest Niflheim has to a healer, next to Dr. "bundle of fun".
18. Walter: Very, very confusing. He can't spell, but seems oddly threatening despite the fact that he behaves like a frightened child. This is all hearsay... I have yet to meet this individual, or even speak to him through comm channels.
19. Midvalley: I know next to nothing about him. He plays sax. That's IT. I'm actually a little ashamed, at how little I know... I should try to find out more.
20. Una: Had my body during that malfunction day. She intimidates me. I think that she's all right, since Blythe seems to trust her enough to read the journal entries she codes to Asgard.
21. Light: ...Don't even get me started. Since he shot himself, it's been a real carnival ride, for true. As usual, I'm both furious at him and slightly worried. For him and myself, and, more recently, Blythe.
22. Gin: Apparently, Kain hates him more than he hates me. That's all I need to know to know that, well, we'd probably get along. But still... Kain isn't bad, so if he says this guy is trouble, he's probably all that and a bag of chips.
23. Carrion: Tortured Light! Instant kudos to him for that. Otherwise, he seems frightening enough to deserve that ominous nickname he throws around.
24. Emerald: Um. Who?
25. Sal: Overconfident and obnoxious. Fortunately, I haven't dealt with him, but that could soon change. We'll see... he seems to be watching Light's back, to some degree.
26. Jazz: Ah, the one who is most likely reading this. I trust him; what other choice do I have?
27. Strix: Ugly, spiteful cunt. Doesn't listen. Doesn't care enough to get the complete picture. A lot like Will, actually. And I'm still a bit put-out about the whole "let's attack Asgard!" bit, even though she had nothing to do with it except have a monstrous body that Will ended up with. Though, I suspect she was more involved than she actually claims to have been...
